Tina Edwards

Major Tina Edwards began her law enforcement career as a Patrol Deputy with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in June 2006. In 2008, she was assigned to the Detective Division, where she quickly demonstrated strong investigative skills and a talent for leadership.

In July 2015, Major Edwards was promoted to Detective Sergeant, and in January 2019, she advanced to the rank of Lieutenant, both within the Detective Division. In 2016, she was appointed Commander of the Dive Team, further expanding her leadership responsibilities.

In May 2019, Major Edwards was promoted to Captain over the Investigations Unit. She earned the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award in March 2020, recognizing her commitment to executive-level law enforcement training and leadership development. In May 2022, she transitioned to serve as Captain of Internal Affairs.

Major Edwards is a graduate of the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy, Class of 2023. She also served as President of the North Carolina Internal Affairs Investigators’ Association from 2024 to 2025.

In May 2025, she was promoted to the rank of Major and currently oversees the Administration Division.
